Center for Creative Solutions, Inc Announces “A Day of Adventure”

center-for-creative-solutions-incThe Center for Creative Solutions, Inc.™ announced "A Day of Adventure" on Saturday, April 12, 2014, one of several events celebrating this year’s World Creativity and Innovation Week in Northwest Indiana. Sponsored by The Society of Innovators of Northwest Indiana, the day’s activities run from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Jean Shepherd Community Center, 3031 Mahoney Drive, Hammond, Indiana. It will be a time of family fun– and it is free!

Featured will be 13 outstanding exhibitors waiting to play, teach and interact with guests. The Innovation Expo will promote the importance of creativity and innovation in Northwest Indiana. Exhibitors will showcase the great ideas that have impacted the region– from "A," agriculture, to "Z," a zoo-like attraction from Fair Oaks Farms.

The morning will start with fitness activities stressing "move your body." Staff from the Center for Creative Solutions, Inc.™ will teach participants easy, fun and practical methods to help them tap into their innovative side.

In addition, children will enjoy a "Treasure Hunt" during which coins will be mixed with beach sand in the big drum of a massive 40,000 pound Ozinga CNG powered cement truck. Youngsters will get to "touch a truck, wear a hard hat, and work with small shovels and rakes to comb for treasure. Participants can also make kites and make "granite pals" at the Granite Factory.

Many activities are designed for adults as well. They can make paper creations, called origami, led by innovative artists renowned for their creative paper gifts sold in fancy Chicago boutiques. There will also be a new app for smart phones users to evaluate, and an electric car and charging station. Purdue University - Calumet will compete with Valparaiso University students in a Lego competition that features building imaginative structures from Lake Michigan.

Moreover, everyone can vote for their favorite creative videos. The films were made as part of the 2014 Young Innovators’ Challenge competition.

On Tuesday, April 22, Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla will join the community-wide celebration of World Creativity and Innovation Week. The free, family night will feature exhibits, speakers and activities that underscore the theme, "Energizing Your World." It will be at LifeWorks, IU Health-La Porte Hospital, 3777 North Frontage Road, Michigan City, from 5 - 7 p.m.

On April 16, at 6 p.m. the La Porte County Public Library, 904 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, is hosting "Hello Donuts! a Creative Business Start-up."

Throughout April, La Porte County Museum in La Porte will sponsor a special display, featuring local inventor, Captain Bill Eddy.

World Creativity and Innovation Week partners include Ivy Tech Community College Northwest, the Ivy Tech Gerald I. Lamkin Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, the Society of Innovators of Northwest Indiana, IU Health-La Porte Hospital,Greater La Porte Area Ministerial Association and La Porte County Public Library.
