CAYA Swearing in, December 2014

CAYA-oathLaPorte County Circuit Court Judge Tom Alevizos swore in the newest group of Court Appointed Youth Advocates (CAYA) on December 20th.

They will begin their efforts to support the best interest of youth who are involved in the juvenile justice system due to delinquent acts by promoting educational, employment, positive peer relationships, life skills and other short-term goals.

Volunteers completed comprehensive training to understand the juvenile justice and probation system as well as factors that contribute to juvenile delinquency. Ongoing workshops and other resource collaboration will provide additional tools to assist volunteers in making a positive impact for struggling community youth.
