Porter Health Care System continues to expand its Porter Physician Group. Sean Dardeau, Porter Health Care System and Northwest Indiana Market Chief Executive Officer, recently announced the addition of Andrew Putnam, M.D., cardiologist, who will be joining the group starting on August 15. The cardiology office is located at the Medical Plaza on the Porter Regional Hospital Campus in Valparaiso and has satellite offices at Portage Hospital and in the heart of Valparaiso at Valparaiso Medical Center. Dr. Putnam, who has joined the medical staff at Porter Regional Hospital, has a special interest in general cardiology, preventive cardiology, women’s heart health, cardiovascular nutrition, cardiac computed tomography (CT), heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, coronary and peripheral artery disease, invasive and non-invasive echocardiography, and other diagnostic testing.
“The addition of Dr. Putnam to our cardiology group will allow us to better meet the needs of the communities we serve. His experiences at both the University of Michigan Medical Center and the University of Chicago are a strong addition to our cardiovascular team,” Dardeau marked.
Putnam received his medical degree from the Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, Illinois. He completed his residency at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan and a Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship at the University of Chicago. Putnam is board certified in Internal Medicine and is board eligible in Cardiology. He is also board certified in echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and vascular imaging. He holds professional memberships in the American College of Physicians and the American College of Cardiology.
Putnam shared that he is looking forward to joining Porter Physician Group and being an active member of the Porter Regional Hospital Medical Staff. “I chose cardiology as my specialty because I particularly enjoyed treating patients with acute coronary syndromes, atrial fibrillation, heart failure, and other cardiovascular conditions. I find it rewarding to help patients understand their illness and provide advice and interventions that can improve their quality of life in a noticeable way.”
