Car Seat Safety Inspections

Michigan-City-PoliceOver 90% of child safety seats are used or installed incorrectly. As part of a continuing effort to keep children safe, Sgt. Ken Havlin of the Michigan City Police and other certified Child Safety Technicians will be on hand at the Indiana University Health Medical offices located at 877 N. Frontage Rd. in Michigan City on Friday 9-21-12, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.

At this site the Certified Technicians will:

  • Inspect all car seats and booster seats
  • Learn if your car seat is age and size appropriate
  • Check for cracks, wear, or any recalls
  • Instruct parents proper ways of transporting babies and children

 

Any existing car seats that do not meet present safety standards will be discarded and replaced “FREE OF CHARGE”.

A limited number of free car seats are available on a first-come-first serve basis.
