A candlelight vigil will be held on Monday, July 30, to honor and support the Maule and Crites family. On July 19th, Katie Atkins lost her life in a tragic car accident. With her in the car were her boyfriend's, Sam Maule's, niece Audrey, and Neilah and Jaidyn, the daughters of Kelly Crites and Sam.
Audrey was not critically injured but faces a road of emotional recovery. Jaidyn was recently released from Riley Children's Hospital with a fractured clavicle, arm and femur, orbit and lacerations. She has a long recovery ahead of her but is thankfully back in Chicago with her parents at Neilah's bedside. Neilah remains at Comer's Children Hospital at the University of Chicago, fighting for her life with a brain injury.
The community is invited to come out Monday night to the LaPorte County Courthouse at 8:30 pm to pray for the family and keep faith that Neilah will pull through this. Attendees are encouraged to bring candles. A prayer will be said for Neilah and family, and in memory of Katie Atkins. Jim Post will be sharing his musical talent, playing acoustic guitar during the vigil.
