Southern Shore Art Association, Michigan City, has sent out a call for artists to exhibit in the upcoming May exhibition titled “ART IN GOOD TASTE" an Exhibition of Food as Subject. The SSAA Gallery exists as a venue for established and emerging regional artists to exhibit and sell. The May exhibit will showcase artworks in painting, sculpture, photography and other media by SSAA members and guest artists. It opens with a public reception on Friday, May 2 in conjunction with the First Friday festivities on Franklin Street in Michigan City’s Uptown Arts District.
“Food, in its infinite variety, the sustainable and the succulent, has been a favored subject by artists for centuries,” said Susan Block, Exhibition Chair. “Whether a painting of a field of waving wheat, a still life of a bowl of ripe fruit, a sculpture of ears of corn, ceramic pasta on a fired plate or a baby nursing, food remains an appealing subject.”
