Boston-Middle-School-vfw-speakers-for-dewolfJoanne Janisch, the president of the Ladies Aux to the VFW in LP, and Commander Jim Stemmler presented to all eighth graders at Boston Middle School on September 18th. The presentation enlightened students on the sacrifices that men and women have made to allow us the freedoms we enjoy. The presentation covered the importance of POW/MIA Recognition Day (9/19).

The United States’ National POW/MIA Recognition Day is observed across the nation on the third Friday of September each year. Many Americans take the time to remember those who were prisoners of war (POW) and those who are missing in action (MIA), as well as their families, and highlights the government's commitment to account for them. Mrs. Janisch also covered the significance of the missing man table and honors ceremony.
