6th grade students from Boston Middle School celebrated the completion of their culminating project by traveling to Lincoln Elementary School to read to the kindergarten classes. After studying the wordless picture book, Flotsam by David Weisner, the 6th grade Read180 students created their own story to go with the pictures. Students used technology to lay out pictures and text, assembled the books, and created covers.
On June 4th and 5th, the students visited Lincoln Elementary's kindergarten classes to read their creations and share some background information about the book. 6th grade student Adam Juckett commented, "I was a bit nervous at first but it felt good to read my work."
