Boston Defeats Kesling in Cross-City Showdown

footballThe Boston 8th grade football team finished their season with a 2 and 5 record by defeating Kesling 27 to 6 under the lights at Kiwanis Field Wednesday night to retain the first ever “Slicer Jug” in honor of Jake West.

The offensive attack was run behind the offensive line of Cesar Rosales, Austin Lowe, Cameron Perkins, Jake Garwood, and Alex Kulbacki and tight ends Justin Dusza and Kyle Kirkpatrick. Offensively, Mark Haines had 2 touchdown receptions, including a 40 yard pass from quarterback Nolan Lorenz to end the first half. Haines also added a 2 point conversion reception. Blake Cornett had over 100 yards receiving. Chris Scalf ran the ball well, and added a 2 yard touchdown run to go along with a 50 yard run. Drayson Nespo ran the ball well to close out the game. Edgar Villa added an extra point kick.

Defensively, the Bruins held the Komets scoreless in the second half. Nolan Lorenz had a 30 yard interception return for a touchdown, and Nathan Loeffler also had an interception. Nathan Askegaard added 4 tackles and a sack, Austin Lowe, Jacob Ray, and Justin Dusza each had 2 tackles, and Rylan Epple and Edgar Villa each had 3 tackles.

After a great end to the season the Bruins will join Kesling next year as 9th graders playing freshman football. Good luck as Slicers!
