Miss Channie Jones, Art teacher at Boston Middle School, was recently nominated by the Assistant Dean of Education at Purdue University for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Dream Teacher Award. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Award seeks to recognize outstanding efforts of teachers whose work embodies King's message of unity and commitment to improve the lives of others.
Particular interest is paid to the nomination of individuals who have captured the meaning behind this year's theme, "The Fierce Urgency of Now." Miss Jones has gratefully had opportunities to culturally educate her Boston Students as well as teach them the importance of humanitarianism through multiple art lessons and art club extracurricular activities. She has been active in Boston and the community by advocating the importance of equality, education and visual culture.
