Bishop Melczek Donates $20,000 to Marquette to Begin Endowment Fund

mchs-open-houseOn December 22, 2014, Marquette Catholic Principal Mr. James White received a letter from the office of the Most Reverend Dale J. Melczek, Bishop Emeritus of Gary, stating that Bishop Melczek has established a new endowment fund to benefit Marquette. Entitled the Bishop Dale J. Melczek Fund for Marquette High School, the endowment is initially being funded with $20,000 from Bishop Melczek's personal savings and is also provided for in his estate plan.

The Bishop Dale J. Melczek Fund for Marquette High School will be included in the complete listing of endowed funds in all Catholic Foundation for Northwest Indiana marketing and advertising promotional materials so alumni and others may make their own contributions in any amount, at any time, to grow the fund.

Mr. White states, "Bishop Melczek has always been a great supporter of Marquette Catholic. He has been an awesome partner in advancing the school. We thank him graciously for his investment in the future of our students."

Everyone else at Marquette would also like to extend many thanks to Bishop Melczek for his incredible kindness to our school. Between starting this endowment fund and assisting with the window project last semester, Bishop Melczek has been more than generous in investing in the future of Marquette.
