Barker Middle School 7th and 8th grade Social Studies Teacher, Mariah Pol, has just been announced as one of 50 teachers in the United States who has received the USS Midway Institute for Teachers of History and Social Studies Fellowship!
The fellowship is in San Diego this summer. The fellowship is for two weeks and Ms. Pol will be staying on the USS Midway Ship learning about the Cold War, particularly Korean and Vietnam Wars. After learning from leading professors in those studies, she will be building curriculum to take back to utilize in her classroom with her students. Professors from University of California, San Diego and George Washington University are among the faculty speakers. It is an all-expense paid trip plus a stipend.
