Barker Middle School Inducts 45 into National Junior Honor Society

BarkerHonorSocietyOn Thursday, May 22, Barker Middle School inducted 45 new members into the John H. Barker Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society. The new members joined 83 seventh and eighth graders who were already members.

The 2014 inductees included: Connor Baker, Nick Bednar, Valorie Burdick, Hannah Chambers, Payton Colvin, Tyler Cuma, Bryanne Cushway, Elijah Davis, Elysha Davis, Dania Duenas, Madelyn Gondeck, Farrah Goodall, Nicholas Gushrowski, Alexandria Hahn, Max Hardwick, Jocelyn Hekter, Ciana Hoffman, Koryn Hollingshead, Adam Howard, Brenda Huizer, Micaela Iacovetti, Lexie Koza, Anna-Lisse Lenard, Halie Lewis, Kira Morton, Abby Novak, Logan Novak, Amanda Ochoa, Stephen Patton, Isabella Pelath, Kaitlyn Pollock, Kaitlyn Saylor, Matthew Schultz, Omar Serrano, Reece Shirley, Riley Shreve, Megan Steinhiser, Katie Tripp, Alliyah Vera, Jackson White, Savannah Wible, Stephanie Wojcik, and Zoie Zaknoun,

During the ceremony, several current eighth grade members received special awards for their embodiment of the guiding principles of NJHS. They included:

This school year, members of Barker’s National Honor Society chapter raised funds for alumni scholarships and several area charities including the Washington Park Zoo and Salvation Army. They tutored students at both Barker and Edgewood Elementary, and completed hundreds of hours of community service.
