Baptisms and Movies: A Busy Summer at Liberty Bible Church in La Porte!

We are having a fun summer at Liberty Bible Church in LaPorte. It started out on June 26th, with our Baptism Service that was held at Stone Lake here in LaPorte. We gathered for a potluck dinner at Cummings Lodge and then Maggie Cornett and Connor Paarlberg were baptized in the lake. Pastor Mike Sutton and the parents helped with the baptism. Rachel Paarlberg led the group in a couple songs as we enjoyed the time together.

Then on June 30th, we had our first “Free Movie Night for Youth”! We were excited to see about ninety youth attend the showing of the movie “The Avengers”. We had fun with free popcorn, soft drinks and candy. It was fun to see the theatre with a good crowd enjoying themselves.

Our next event is a free showing of “The Hobbit” on Saturday July 27th for another “Free Movie Night for Youth”. The doors will open at 5:30pm with the show starting at 6:00pm. Any youth in the city is welcome.

On July 12th, several of our congregation as well as others from several churches in LaPorte attended the “When Helping Hurts” Conference in Crown Point. The churches of our city are partnering together in a ministry called “First Step of LaPorte” that is designed to help those in financial and spiritual need in LaPorte.

Sunday services continue at 10:00am with the current sermon series titled, “Conversations that Change the World”. This series looks at “conversations” in the scripture between God and different individuals. We offer contemporary music as well as children’s ministry from nursery to fourth grade. Youth group meets on Wednesday nights. If you would like to know more go to www.lbchurch.org<http://www.lbchurch.org/> or call Pastor Mike Sutton at 219-510-3193.
