Vivian Kelby of Crown Point (left), accepts a special award pin for accumulating the most hours, 31,000 since 1976, as a member of the Franciscan St. Anthony Health-Crown Point Auxiliary, during a 41st Annual Appreciation and Awards Luncheon June 20 in the hospital’s Marian Education Center. She receives the pin from Carolyn Meinbresse, auxiliary president, who paid tribute to Kelby and all the group’s members, for selflessly giving of their time and effort to assist with hospital services.
The volunteers also donate tens of thousands of dollars annually to the hospital, through various fund-raising efforts, most notably the Gift Shop, which recently was renovated. The funds are used to enhance hospital and patient services. Volunteers received pins and other gifts for hours ranging from 100 to Kelby’s total. The auxiliary has 147 active members and approximately 30 student volunteers.
