Twenty-four members and guests enjoyed the program at the monthly meeting of the La Porte County Indiana Genealogical Society on August 11, 2015. The group met at the La Porte Park Department Headquarters.
During an open discussion period, two members related what benefits and adventures they had experienced on recent trips. Maggie Griswold journeyed to Sweden, and Anne Durrant toured Poland and surrounding regions.
After refreshments, the meeting continued with a program by La Porte County Historian Fern Eddy Schultz. She spoke of “La Porte County road Surnames – Genealogically Speaking.” Fern outlined the governmental process which gave rural roads their names, and highlighted the biographical and genealogical background of some of the better-known honorees.
On September 8, 2015, at 7 PM, the society will meet again at the Park Department. Guests and questions are always welcome.
Our program will be “Probate Will Not Be the Death of You”. Member and Certified Genealogist Harold Henderson will be the speaker.
