Astronaut to Speak at New Directions Event

New-Directions-Jerry-RossIndiana Astronaut, Jerry Ross, will be speaking at New Directions, a monthly community resource event held in the Family Life Center of Bethany Church in La Porte on Wednesday, March 19th at 7:00pm.

National news announced just four days ago that Ross will soon be inducted into the Astronaut Hall of Fame. Ross was the first person to launch from earth into space seven times. Logging nearly 1,400 hours in orbit, including 58 hours and 18 minutes during nine spacewalks, Ross's seven-spaceflight total is a record he now shares with only one other astronaut, and his number of spacewalks as well as the time spent on those spacewalks both rank as the second-highest among NASA astronauts and third-longest among spacewalkers worldwide.

Copies of his new book, "Spacewalker" will be available with a chance to have it signed by the author.

The speaker at New Directions on February 19th will be Jessica Nipp-Hacker of the Malaria Campaign

Other speakers at New Directions have included:

  • Jeff Bernel from Notre Dame on Entrepreneurship
  • Mayor Blair Milo & Pastor Mike Sutton on Politics & Religion
  • Amber Hensell-Hicks of Frontline Foundations (Addictions Treatment)
