Franciscan Health Fitness Centers has been the proud host of the Firecracker 5k Run/Non-Competitive Walk for the last 16 years. This flat, fast 3.1 mile course, held in the neighborhood adjacent to the Franciscan Health Fitness Centers Chesterton, has continually been selected as a member of the Calumet Region Striders Gold Cup Series, typically hosting 250 runners of all fitness and age levels.
Our 2020 Firecracker 5k was scheduled to take place June 13th. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we at Franciscan Health Fitness Centers continue to focus on the health and safety of our community. We have decided it is in the best interest for our participants, spectators, volunteers, and staff to cancel our Annual Firecracker 5k for 2020. We encourage everyone to continue to be active, and stay connected, by taking advantage of our race course for your own walk/run. We look forward to welcoming you back with our 17th Firecracker 5k in June of 2021!
