American RENOLIT Corporation recently made a significant contribution to the La Porte County Animal Shelter, showcasing its commitment to community engagement. The company donated an estimated 800 items to the shelter and provided a financial contribution to provide additional support for the facility and to sponsor pet adoptions.
As you enter the parking lot of the shelter, you can see live construction on their new K9 splash pad. The splash pad is set to be completed by the end of the summer. Visitors can see a visual map of the new park along with “learn now” information.
Melissa Gruber, Human Resources Director at American RENOLIT, shared the inspiration behind the donation.
In total, American RENOLIT collected around 800 items, ranging from food and blankets to cleaning supplies and pet toys.
"We provided items for both cats and dogs," Gruber said. "We love all animals, and our employees are generous in contributing to these types of organizations."
In addition to the item donation, the company also chose to sponsor adoptions.
"For each shift that collected at least 50 items, we agreed to sponsor an adoption of either a dog or a cat," Gruber said. "We gave the shelter a check to cover the adoption fees so people can adopt animals without having to pay any fees upfront."
The shelter was given a check to cover the adoption fees of several animals.
“Sponsoring adoptions is a way for the company to help animals find their forever homes. They pre-pay to cover the adoption fees so it’s of no cost to those looking to adopt. The employees of RENOLIT aim to make it easier for these animals to find a home,” Gruber said.
"We try to do something in the community every quarter, and our employees came together and voted to support this animal shelter. The employees of RENOLIT had a contest among shifts to see who could collect the most items,” Gruber said. “The donation effort was further supported by Renolit employees through the company’s internal Motivosity system. Employees get the chance to earn ‘Thank you’ money and have it donated to the shelter.”
Gruber expressed hope that the donation will alleviate some of the shelter's financial burdens.
"We hope that it will make it easier for them to take care of these animals until they can find their forever homes," she said.
For RENOLIT, engaging with the local community is a top priority.
“It’s very important to us,” Gruber said. “We ask our employees for their input each quarter, put out surveys, and then decide who we will sponsor. We’re always looking for ways to impact the community and make it a better place for everyone.”
As RENOLIT continues its commitment to community involvement, the company plans to keep supporting local causes that align with both employee values and corporate responsibility.
"We appreciate being able to make a difference here in La Porte," Gruber said.
