American Renolit Corporation celebrated family, friendship, and the end of summer at their annual Summer Family Day. The La Porte branch of the international manufacturing company spent Saturday afternoon at Zao Island’s Greenhouse. There was plenty of food, cold drinks, a photo booth, face painting, and even Snickers the Clown to entertain co-workers and their families.
Melissa Gruber, Human Resources Manager for American Renolit, was busy checking families in and directing them to the food and fun. Gruber was excited to see everyone outside of the plant.
“Days like today are important because everyone spends so much time working--it is nice for them to enjoy themselves and get to know eachother better,” Gruber said
According to Gruber, the social committee selected Zao Island because of the beautiful greenhouse and other activities. There was plenty of time for co-workers to enjoy each other and also take part in activities like mini-golf and arcade games with loved ones.
Sommer Griffin’s husband started as a temp more than 20-years ago at Renolit and is now a supervisor. She loves the family-owned aspect of the company; her husband has had a great experience working for Renolit.
“It’s good to mingle with coworkers outside of work to get to know each other as people,” Griffin said. “Creating bonds and relationships helps the work environment.”
Griffin’s four children, ages 8-17, were excited to spend one of their last summer days at Zao Island. In fact, Griffin herself was eager to play laser tag with her husband and children.
“It’s fun to act like a kid,” Griffin said.
For Renaat Demeulemeester, President at American Renolit Corporation, the company enjoys offering Summer Family Day and the annual Christmas Party. Demeulemeester said it is important to gather outside of normal work hours.
“This is the employees' event,” Demeulemeester said. “They love this venue and Summer Family days needs to be something that they want to do.”
According to Demeulemeester, the plant is a 24-7 facility,
and every other year, they host the event for the alternate shift. This way,
everyone has an opportunity. Last year was the first time Renolit hosted at Zao
Island and it was a huge hit. It was decided to hold it again for the opposite
shift.
“It’s fun and interesting to meet each other's family and for the family
members to get a glimpse inside of Renolit,” Demeulemeester said.
