America in Bloom is a national campaign that encourages communities across the country to create welcoming vibrant places to live, work and play, benefitting from colorful plants and trees, and clean enhanced environments. In June, The Southern Shore Art Association in the Uptown Arts District of Michigan City, supports these aims in presenting artful aspects of this concept. This is a member and guest artist exhibition and opens on June 5 from 5-8pm (CT) in conjunction with First Friday’s festivities with a free reception to meet the artists and to enjoy refreshments.
Multi-media artworks, including painting and photography, will reflect and celebrate the beauty of flowers, gardens, trees and plantings that decorate the places we live in.
Kevin Gross, one of the exhibiting artists, commented on his work which he calls fractal art. “Fractals are complex, repetitive, mathematically based patterns and shapes that resemble those found in nature. They are created using computers.”
Southern Shore Art Association is a non-profit organization which exists to provide an opportunity for established and emerging artists to exhibit and sell their work. Classes in art education and art-related programming are also offered. “Summer of Art,” a mixed media member and guest artist exhibition will be shown in July.
