Alex Brandon Named Principal of Joy Elementary School

Alex-BrandonThe Michigan City Area Schools Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Mr. Alexander Brandon as principal of Joy Elementary School at a special meeting on Friday, July 26.

Mr. Brandon was selected through a process that included interviews with a school-based team of teachers and with MCAS Superintendent Dr. Barbara Eason-Watkins. (Joy Elementary School’s previous principal, Mr. Jason Hopper, has accepted a position as a principal in the Plainfield School District near Indianapolis.)

A former assistant principal at New Prairie High School, Mr. Brandon recently served NPHS as Interim Principal. He previously worked as a teacher in Griffith, Indiana, and he started his teaching career in Michigan City – at Michigan City Jr. High and Krueger Middle School.

Mr. Brandon is a life-long Trail Creek resident and a graduate of Joy Elementary. He has children in the Michigan City Area Schools (Pine and Barker) and is actively involved in the community as a little league sports coach.
