Leadership La Porte County is pleased to recognize the Alcoa Foundation for their recent award of a community grant for Leadership La Porte County Youth programming. The grant, which was received in November, provides funding for youth programming through May, 2015. “We are proud to partner with the Alcoa Foundation in promoting community leadership with our area youth,” stated Leadership’s Executive Director Monica Komasinski. “Local staff members from Alcoa Howmet in La Porte were instrumental in our successful grant application. We are so pleased to have the support of Alcoa Howmet. They are outstanding partners who truly care about the community,” she added.
Leadership La Porte County Youth programs include a Middle School Summer Camp, monthly community leadership sessions for graduates of the Middle School Camp hosted during the school year and a High School series of workshops each spring. These programs are funded solely by community grants. Middle school students interested in the next Summer Camp to be held in August are welcome to participate. Information will be sent to local schools in the spring.
