America has a love affair with pizza. That goes double for the Region, and being so close to Chicago, we have strong opinions on what constitutes a good pizza. New York style or Chicago? Sweet red sauce, or salty? There are as many different opinions as there are pizza places.
Albano’s Villa has been in the same family for over 50 years and a staple in the Region since 1957. Initially started in Michigan City, Albano’s Villa has since expanded to Johnsonville Road in La Porte. Truly, a testament to the culinary artistry of the House of Albano.
“Jim Albano still uses his family recipe,” stated Shawn Condez, who has been with Albano’s for the last 14 years and is currently their Operations Manager. “[Jim] makes his spices in house. Everything is made from scratch. We grind our own cheese and sausage. We make our own dough and sauces as well as the Italian Beef Juice.”
However, Albano’s Villa is not just another pizza parlor that slings amazing pizzas. They also have pastas, and even tacos.
“We’re selling a ton of tacos now,” said Condez.
This is not just due to the delicious family recipe for their taco meat, but also because Albano’s runs daily specials, Sunday through Thursday. Each day of the week is a different special.
Mondays are “Masterpiece Mondays,” where you can get $2 off a large Masterpiece pizza, which is loaded with sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, black olives, bell peppers, and tomatoes.
Of course, what else would be on Tuesdays but tacos. You can have your choice of either $2 off a Taco Pizza, or buy 2 tacos and get one free.
“What’s Your Beef Wednesdays” will find you getting $.50 off a small Italian Beef sandwich, or $1 off a large.
Lastly, “Pastabililties Thursdays” can net you a $1 off a full-size order of any pasta dish, if you so choose. Clearly, there are many options at Albano’s, and not just for a tasty pizza. Whether its Italian beef sandwiches, grinders, pastas, or salads, Albano’s is sure to satisfy your appetite and keep you coming back for more.
