The primary purpose of this position is to prepare and serve all foods according to the menu in a safe, sanitary manner while maintaining a clean, safe work environment for all resident meals.
This position reports directly to the Dietary Manager.
Duties for this position include but are not limited to:
Prepare and serve residents’ daily meals and maintain kitchen area such as prepare quality food products, ensure proper preparation/portioning/serving of foods, follow recipes/menus, suggest menu changes/alternate items, utilize leftovers, taste/smell food to determine quality/palatability, directing/supervising Dietary Aides, have food ready at specified time, begin meal service on time, follow temperature regulations in preparing/serving/storing foods, ensure supplies are replenished, tray set-up, delivery of meals, put away stock, using/cleaning institutional equipment, washing/storing cooking utensils, bussing of tables, cleaning of dining room and sweeping/mopping kitchen/dining areas.
- Have an understanding of dietary procedures and practices.
- High school diploma or GED is preferred but not required.
- At least one (1) year of experience in a similar position is preferred.
