Access La Porte County Television Upgrades Infrastructure

Access-La-Porte-County-2017Access La Porte County Television’s Director of Operations, Mike Dempsey, has announced that digital upgrades to the station’s infrastructure has been completed.

A year long project, the transformation from analog signals being carried over coax cable to Griffith, Indiana has been replaced with digital signals being immediately uploaded over fiber optics to the Comcast network in St. Joseph, Michigan. This method instantly places digital programming on the Comcast grid. The result being a better picture and sound quality, even though ALCO has yet to acquire high definition channels on the Comcast system.

Dempsey states that he also has informed the public through Social Media that ALCO’s Channel 97, the County’s Government Channel, is now available on not only television and computers but also on cross platform devices (IOS and Android) such as tablets and smartphones. “It’s as easy as going to ALCO’s website, www.accesslaportecounty.org, on a device and clicking on the Channel 97 logo”, said Dempsey.

“2017 was a year of rebuilding, restructuring and replacing equipment that now places Access La Porte County Television as one of the premier Public Access Television Companies in the state, if not the Midwest”, Dempsey said.

Next on the list for ALCO will be a Rebranding Campaign that will take place in 2018. Dempsey says ALCO has overcome many obstacles in the past years and is looking forward to ALCO’s new name, a now fresh and honorable reputation with an up to date technology base.
