Sixth grader Tristen Poe gave a speech during the La Porte County Family YMCA preschool graduation. In honor of the retiring teacher Miss Pat, Tristen spoke these words to express how special this woman is to him. His words are as follows:
Hello, you may not know me, but my name is Tristen Poe and Ms. Pat was my preschool teacher here at the YMCA. But she was much more than that. She was like my mom. She encouraged me when I struggled. She made us laugh when we were sad. She was very caring. Most of all, she loved us. We were her family, just like she was part of ours.
Ms. Pat was a huge part of the person I am today. She helped us learn new things and it really helped me in Kindergarten and all through the years. I want to personally thank Ms. Pat for all she has done for the Y childcare kids. We are better people because of her.
I love you Miss Pat.
