A La Porte County Life in the Spotlight: Matt Magnuson

LITS-matt-1This week’s Life in the Spotlight, Matt Magnuson from La Porte Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM (LPCDJR), bleeds Slicer orange.

A native of La Porte, Magnuson has spent his life dedicating himself to the only community he has ever, and would ever call home.

“My dad’s 75 and he still lives in La Porte,” Magnuson explained.

Because, to Magnuson, there is something special about this community that you can’t find anywhere else. That unique mix of small town charm combined with a group of residents that seem more like a family than anything else.

“It’s a nice community,” said Magnuson. “It has meant a lot to me and my family, and I love how close knit La Porte is.”

“When you go out in La Porte everyone knows you, and you know them, and that’s the way it should be.”

That’s the way it is in La Porte for Matt because he’s made it a purpose in life and in his career to get as involved with the community as he possibly can.

Seriously, go out to any community-driven event in La Porte and you’ll see Matt and LPCDJR there supporting it.

“It’s just fun to get out there and meet with the people and the community,” added Magnuson.

This commitment to friends, family, and community is something Magnuson says he learned watching his family grow up in La Porte.

“My grandpa used to own North Shore Sales here in La Porte, and my dad got into the family business, so that makes LPCDJR a third-generation La Porte business.”

And some day there may be a fourth generation carrying the banner of serving the community.

“And now my kids are following in my footsteps of growing up in La Porte,” said Magnuson.

Crichfield, Boston, and La Porte High School, hopefully. Just like their dad.

Because that’s just the way it is if you’re Matt, La Porte will always and forever be his home. Or, as Magnuson puts it:

“When you’re a Slicer, you’re a Slicer for life.”
