A La Porte County Life in the Spotlight: Joshua Noll

Josh-NollSometimes there are members of society that contribute in a unique way. They don't necessarily make a medical discovery or save somebody's life, there are some who just live life to the fullest potential and aspire to make their dreams come true. One of these members of society is Joshua Noll, a recent graduate of La Porte High School, born and raised in La Porte, Indiana.

Throughout his high school career, Noll excelled academically and maintained to graduate in the top 10% of his senior class. He joined several academic clubs like the Academic Decathlon team, Spell Bowl, Student Council, and Spanish Club. Noll was an avid member of the National Honor Society as well.

He participated in the high school's Symphonic Band and Pep Band, playing the clarinet throughout all four years. He received many awards throughout high school, such as the Most Valuable Senior Award for the Academic Decathlon team and the Most Outstanding Male Senior Award. He was nominated into the Homecoming Court during his senior year to represent Student Council and went on to win Prom King months later.

Along with graduating with academic honors, Noll acquired several scholarships. He received the La Porte Auxiliary Scholarship from IU Health La Porte Hospital, a scholarship from Indiana University Bloomington, and the Student Council Scholarship from Kesling Middle School.

Outside of school, Joshua worked part-time at Al's Supermarket for two years while also volunteering at IU Health La Porte Hospital every week. He donated blood on several occasions to the Red Cross, and became very interested in the medical field.

"For the longest time I've wanted to give back to my community who has given so much to me. In the recent 4 years I have decided I wanted to become a physician because I've seen how much good they can do for a community, and I want to use the opportunities I've been given to make the world a better place," Noll said.

In the fall, Noll will be attending Indiana University in Bloomington to major in Biology (Pre-med) and minor in Spanish. His dream is to become a neurologist, and he would like to study abroad in Spain. While at IU Bloomington, Joshua plans on joining new clubs and trying new things that the university has to offer such as ballroom dancing, fencing, joining the neuroscience club, and even a quidditch team.

Joshua's hobbies include music and learning about new instruments, art, swimming, running, volunteering, and spending time with his friends and family.

In his lifetime, Joshua wants to have as many adventures as he can. He hopes to one day live in New York City.
