A La Porte County Life in the Spotlight: Adam Konieczny

After leaving the corporate world, Adam Konieczny and his best friend Tim Franke decided they could serve the digital marketing community better and set out to do so. Konieczny is now CEO and co-founder of Duneland Media.

“We were both just sitting down, talking about some of our frustrations with the corporate world—how our clients weren’t getting the best out of their marketing,” Konieczny said. “We wanted to give them the best customer service and the best overall experience, so we decided we could do better and started our company.”

Konieczny was born and raised in La Porte County where he attended La Porte High School. After graduation, Konieczny went to Indiana University in Bloomington where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in management, a certificate in business, and a minor in criminal justice. His love for marketing bloomed in college, and he knew that this was the career field for him.

After college, Konieczny returned to La Porte and started working with his uncle at his company, Computech Systems Inc. While working with his uncle, Konieczny also worked with CSInet to further his education in marketing and media. After a few years of working there, he then worked at R.H. Donnelley Company (now DEX One) for the next eight years where he worked in marketing and met his best friend Franke. After R.H. Donnelley, Konieczny was recruited to work for The Times of Northwest Indiana for the next three years.

“Along the way, I realized that working for the corporate world didn't give the clients the best user experience nor the best overall experience,” Konieczny said.

To give corporate a new take on digital marketing needs, Konieczny and Franke started Duneland Media in 2015. Duneland Media works with clients of all sizes, from someone just starting a business to well-established corporations. The company’s goal is to have its team share the goals of its clients, cultivating successful and meaningful relationships to accomplish them. Duneland Media works with clients all across the country providing them with their digital marketing needs, however big or small they may be.

“We help customers who have zero presence out there on the internet by giving them an online presence,” Konieczny said. “We also help companies that already have that established presence but want to grow their business. We also have companies that are doing well but want to take it to the next level.”

With each day and client being unique, Konieczny loves what he does for a living. Duneland Media has an array of services to offer clients. It makes websites and social media ads and uses SEO (Search Engine Optimization) to promote its clients. Duneland Media also offers graphic design opportunities to help with logos, branding, photography, and more.  Konieczny makes it a point to hire locals to work for Duneland Media so it doesn’t have to use third-party companies for its clients’ needs.

Konieczny is proud of his company, and he loves that he hires locals and offers all his employees the opportunity to advance their careers. Konieczny also makes sure his company can give back to the community that is close to his heart. Each year, Duneland Media sponsors and aids with promotion for the La Porte LakeFest, which is one of his favorite projects of the year.

“I think it's nice to give something back to the community,” Konieczny said. “LakeFest is a  weekend-long event with a ton of activities for the whole family. From kids' activities to concerts and exercise events to volleyball tournaments—there's something to do. I love being able to see families get out for a fun, free weekend and seeing the joy it brings.”

Outside of work, Konieczny loves to travel with his wife and children. He and his wife, Laura, are scuba divers, so they love to travel to places with warm tropical waters to see what they can explore. Outside of traveling, Konieczny spends as much time as possible with his children, Arya and Axl.
