2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500: A Chicago Auto Show Preview brought to you by Currie Motors Ford of Valpo

We can’t believe we’re saying this, but 700-plus horsepower.

Yes. You read that correctly. Oh, pony car. We haven’t seen a new one of you since 2013, but it was worth the wait. The 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is a beast, and it’s no surprise that it is a debut vehicle at the upcoming Chicago Auto Show.

A 5.2-liter supercharged V8 is behind all that power, supported by a 7-speed automatic transmission. All together, it will get you from zero to 60 in 3.5 seconds, and a quarter mile in 11. You can get this in a two- or four-seat model as a two-door coupe, and special features are a racing buff’s dream: optional racing track-specific package, carbon fiber wheels and wing, rear seat delete, high performance tires, and racing seats. High-tech comfort features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, premium sound, remote start, satellite radio, and navigation system.

You’ll have to wait until this hits the showroom later this year before heading home with a 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 from Currie Motors Ford of Valpo. Until then, dig into the details of this monster at the upcoming Chicago Auto Show.

Bonus! 2020 Explorer and 2020 Explorer ST are making their debut at the show, too! Check them out at the Ford display.

Editor’s Note: This is one in a series of our 2019 Chicago Auto Show previews! The show is Feb. 9-18 at McCormick Place. Check them all out here.
