Frontline Foundations Inc. is seeking artists to create, sell, or share their creative talents in the Sixth Annual Hooked on Art – Live Street Art Festival. Held in Downtown Chesterton on Saturday, September 23rd, artists can enter as a live street artist or art vendor. With $2,000 in total cash prizes, the Festival Chalk Art Competition is open for entries as well. 1st place will receive $1,000, 2nd place takes $750, and 3rd receives $250. Those interested may visit www.hookedonartfestival.com to download an application and find out more.
May 31st marks the early application deadline. Artists who take advantage of the early deadline can get up to 60% registration discount.
“Right now, it’s only $10 to enter the Chalk Art Competition, $50 to demo and sell your art, and $35 to be an art vendor,” Said Derek Frazier, Operations Director at Frontline. “After May 31st, the fees are back to their standard price through August 31st.“
Over the years, Hooked on Art has hosted local Indiana artists and those from across the country, such as Ohio, Iowa, and Florida!
“We’re excited to have a variety of art mediums every year and for each artist to stand out from the rest.” said Derek Frazier, Operations Director at Frontline. “You won’t see two artists of the exact same craft. For example, there may be two glass artists, but one makes jewelry while the other makes glass plates.”
Artists can benefit, especially local ones, from the advantage of being a Live Street Artist “Placement for street artists is front and center to wow and sell to the Festival crowds.” Said Frazier. The Festival takes place alongside the Duneland Chamber’s popular European Market, hosting crowds from all across the region.
Frontline is a nonprofit substance abuse treatment center serving Porter and La Porte Counties. Proceeds from Hooked on Art benefit Frontline's mission to provide hope, support, and treatment to young adults in the community.
Participants must be 18 or older. Those interested in being a live street artist, art vendor, or entering the Chalk Art Competition may apply by downloading an application at www.HookedonArtFestival.com. The early registration discount ends May 31st. Final registration is open through August 31st.
The Festival will take place from 9am-4pm at Thomas Centennial Park.
