The Valparaiso Police Department’s K-9 Team works to create a safer environment for all members of the community. The event “5K-9 Guardians of the Night Run” will be held on Friday, May 9th to raise funds for the Valparaiso Police Department’s K-9 Division.
5K-9 Guardians of the Night will be a 5K-Run and 1 mile dog walk, held at Central Park in downtown Valparaiso. The 5K run will begin at 6:00 PM and the one mile dog walk at 6:15 PM. Join us afterwards to enjoy live music from Chicago’s Libido Funk Circus, a firework show presented by Pet Supplies Plus and refreshments provided by local food vendors.
The cost to register for the run/walk is $20 for ages 13 and older, and $13 for ages 12 and under. All proceeds will directly benefit the Valparaiso K-9 Unit.
Todd Kobitz, coordinator of the department’s K9 program explained, “The Valparaiso police department’s K-9 unit would not be what it is, and as successful as it is, without the communities support. Community members participating in the run, or dog walk, realize that police dogs are a vital part of the department and community,” says Kobitz.
Registration for the event is available online at www.runsignup.com or registration forms are available at the Valparaiso Police Department, located at 355 South Washington Street, Valparaiso, IN 46383. The deadline to register is Sunday, April 20, 2014.
