2014 Michigan City High School ROTC Scholarship

2014-MCHS-ROTC-ScholarshipCaptain Matthew Lamb (far L), Executive Officer, U.S. Marine Corps Recruiting Station, Indianapolis, presents ceremonial checks of $180,000.00 to Cadet Staff Sergeant Kayla Orzech and Cadet Captain Paul Tobalt as recipients of the Navy ROTC Scholarship (Marine option) as Michigan City High School Principal Wendell McCollum looks on. Only three other seniors from throughout Indiana earned this scholarship.

Tobalt will attend Purdue University in West Lafayette and Orzech will attend Loyola University in Chicago. Upon graduating, each will be commissioned second lieutenants in the Marine Corps. The current starting base salary for a second lieutenant is $33,408 annually. Additionally, all health care, on-base housing, life insurance, and 30 days paid vacation are completely covered by the Marine Corps.
