2014 Back in Black Cat Adoprion

2014-Back-in-BlackThe color black has always stood for elegance, prestige, high fashion, power and sophistication. Just wearing black can boost your self-confidence and increase your sense of potential. So it's a mystery why shimmering ebony cats and kittens have to wait longer to become family pets.

The Independent Cat Society will promote black cats and kittens for adoption between May 1st and May 31st, 2014, as a part of the BACK IN BLACK promotion sponsored by the national animal welfare leader, Best Friends Animal Society. More than 175 local animal rescue groups and municipal shelters across the country, including the Independent Cat Society in Westville, are showcasing adorable loving cats and kittens for adoption.

The Independent Cat Society is offering any black or almost black cat or kitten for a $45 adoption fee. A companion cat or kitten of any color is only $25. And the ICS is continuing the 'adopt a cat 5 years or older and we will waive the entire adoption fee' promotion.

"Shelters and rescue groups across the country all have stories of how their black animals get overlooked for adoption. And we all can also tell you about the fabulous personalities of our cats 'in formal wear' and why they are so special,' said Dorothy Ripperdan, ICS Publicity Chairperson and Volunteer.

"Come meet the ICS black cats and kittens and leave looking fabulous with your new ebony companion," said Ripperdan.

Last year through the Back in Black adoption event, more than 3,000 homeless pets found homes nationwide. And the participating groups saw just how the Back in Black promotion really did help animals go home.

Back in Black is part of Best Friends Animal Society's mission to stop the killing of animals in the nation's animal shelters. Every day. approximately 9,000 pets are killed simply because they don't have a home. Best Friends and the No More Homeless Pets Network Partners commitment is summed up in Best Friends' call to action: "Save Them All."

The Independent Cat Society is a participating member of the No More Homeless Pets Network, a program of Best Friends Animal Society that offers help and support to animal rescue groups that save lives in their communities.

The Independent Cat Society is located on Route 6 and County Line Road in Westville, Indiana. Their adoption hours are Saturdays 10am to 4pm and Sundays 1pm to 4pm. Or by appointment. For more information please contact our shelter, 219-785-4936 or visit our website, http://www.catsociety.org/
