rot31st Source Bank has awarded Ivy Tech’s Michigan City Pejic campus a $15,000 grant to help support the “Meet the Need” pilot project. These dollars will be used to help a total of 40 students remain enrolled in classes throughout 2019. Approximately 75% of the students attending the Michigan City campus receive financial assistance of some kind, according to Ivy Tech, with many still not able to reach the full cost of tuition, which is the lowest in Indiana.

“Keeping students enrolled and allowing them to continue pursuing their degree or certificate through completion is extremely important for the future success of our community,” states Matt Vessely, President of 1st Source Bank’s West Region. “We applaud Ivy Tech for identifying students who are at-risk of stopping their education due to monetary concerns, and for developing a resource these students can rely on to help them realize their dreams. It’s been a pleasure partnering with the campus on this project.”

Cindy Hall, CFRE, Executive Director of Resource Development at Ivy Tech describes this project as a “hand up versus a hand out,” with students being offered financial wellness guidance, in addition to financial support, to begin building the foundation that will allow them to study, work and live with more financial security for the long term.
