1st Source Announces Contributions to Local Hospitals and Healthcare Networks Totaling $320,000 to Support Frontline Workers in our Communities

1st Source Foundation, which works with 1st Source Bank for the success of our communities, announces donations totaling $320,000 to local hospitals and healthcare networks across northern Indiana and southwestern Michigan. This donation is being made to help local healthcare providers and frontline workers continue to care for patients and themselves as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

“First and foremost, we extend our deepest gratitude to the healthcare workers who have continued to put the wellbeing of our communities ahead of their own. We simply cannot thank them enough for their commitment,” says Chris Murphy, Chairman of 1st Source Foundation. “It is our wish that these funds be used to assist the medical staff across our communities in whatever ways they may need, from additional or more effective PPE items to access to stress-management resources to help them through this trying time. We recognize their sacrifice, and the strain this pandemic has put on our healthcare networks, and we hope these donations help ease some of their burden.”

Donations are being made to large hospital networks such as Beacon Health System, St. Joseph Health System and Parkview Health (which manage the majority of larger care centers throughout the 1st Source Bank footprint), as well as to smaller, community-based hospitals and care centers in communities like Bremen, LaPorte, Bluffton, Plymouth and many more.

“We are blessed to have 1st Source Bank as a partner and honored they have answered the call to care. Their support is incredibly valuable as our frontline colleagues continue to face tremendous challenges keeping our community safe during this global pandemic,” said Chad Towner, CEO of Saint Joseph Health System.

“Please know how grateful the team and I are for your generous gift meant to recognize our frontline staff in the fight against the COVID pandemic,” said Jae L. Dale, Chief Executive Officer of Kosciusko Community Hospital. “Our staff has gone above and beyond with courage in caring for those that have been afflicted in our community.”

“We are so grateful for the compassionate hearts of the 1st Source Foundation as they have generously donated $40,000 through the Parkview Foundation,” said Ben Miles, President, PRMC & Affiliates. “This has allowed us to create a fund that will support Parkview Health’s frontline workers in response to COVID-19. This gift will support the Parkview Foundation’s new Frontline Co-worker Care Fund as a way of thanking Parkview Health physicians, nurses, medical staff and first responders for their extraordinary service in helping to fight the coronavirus pandemic.”

“We would like to thank 1st Source Bank for their generous donation that will be put forward to recognize our employees for their response to the COVID crisis. We appreciate 1st Source for wanting to publicly recognize healthcare workers,” said Sean Dardeau, Porter Health System Chief Executive Officer.

“Woodlawn Hospital is very appreciative of the funds donated to our organization on behalf of 1st Source Bank. Providing care to our patients through the difficult time of this COVID pandemic has been challenging. Recognition of that challenge is appreciated and helps staff through the daily struggles. In the very near future, we will be using the funds provided to acknowledge our staff’s hard work. Thank you again for your support of our staff,” said John Alley, Woodlawn Hospital Chief Executive Officer.
