Shakespeare in the Park Coming Back to Valparaiso
This year, Chicago Street Theatre is bringing back the popular event with a production of The Comedy of Errors. Performances will take place at Central Park Plaza at dusk on July 12 and 13. The Comedy of Errors is a play about mistaken identity and the chaos that surrounds it, which makes the constant costume, prop and voice changes required of the cast all the more humorous. Another wrinkle to Graney’s adaptation is that the actors encourage audience participation throughout the performance – a regular occurrence during Shakespeare’s time, but less common now.

On Friday, July 12, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., the South Shore Tour Mobile will be making a stop at the Gary SouthShore RailCats. After receiving a free mini frisbee, watch as the RailCats take on the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks beginning at 7:10 p.m. There will also be a spectacular post-game firework show. Stop by the South Shore Tour Mobile at the Greek Fest in Merrillville on Saturday, July 13, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for a free mini frisbee and an entry in the Family Express gift card contests. The Greek Fest will feature authentic Greek meals, live entertainment and rides.

The oldest Indiana county fair will continue this week, full of all the fun rides, events, great food, exciting live demonstrations and reenactments in Pioneer Land, and more!

As darkness falls on July 13th, the Duneland Community will come together during the Luminaria Ceremony and remember why we participate in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Duneland. Everyone is welcome to attend, however you don’t need to be present to take part in this tribute. With your suggested $10 donation, the name of a loved one and/or message will be placed on a Luminaria and will be lit at dusk during the ceremony. This year’s Relay for Life of Duneland will begin at noon Saturday, July 13 and continue through the night concluding at 6 a.m. with a morning service on Sunday, July 14.
Valpo Tri 2013
The region’s most popular triathlon is hosted by the Valparaiso Family YMCA and the Valpo Parks Department. The distances of each leg of the Valpo Tri consist of ¼ mile swimming, 12.4-mile biking and 3.2-mile running competitions.
Downtown La Porte Bringing the Music for July’s 2nd Saturday
La Porte continues its 2nd Saturday season in the Downtown area of State, Lincolnway & Jefferson Avenues with the theme Music Mix. Many businesses will feature great tunes, deals, discounts and refreshments. Enjoy your evening out on the town from 5pm to 7pm, July 13th.
Paws for a Cause
It's time again for Vale Park Animal Hospital's fundraising pet nail trims! The money raised from the nail trims benefits the Valparaiso Police K-9 Unit! Come out Saturday, from 3 pm to 5 pm to help out!
Annual Nativity Festival
After kicking off with a 5K race last weekend, the annual Nativity Fest will take place Thursday, July 11 through the 14th, with live music, food, fun, games, rides, a beer garden, bingo, and more!

Registrations are filling up for the 4th Annual Hannah's Hope golf outing on July 13, 2013 at the Brassie Golf Club. Funds raised will be donated to Jacob's Ladder, NWI First Steps, and CNS, along with a portion donated to the Future Hannah's Hope all inclusive playground.
