Each weekend we bring you 10 Fun Things to Do in Northwest Indiana so you are never without something to do! This weekend provides a few chances to watch movies outside, attend a few festivals, enjoy an evening of white at Taltree and plenty more!

Portage Township YMCA Movie on the Lawn - This Friday!
Bring your friends to free, family-friendly fun! It's free to all! Come play lawn games, shop our concessions, and watch the movie "Frozen". Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and a cooler if you wish. We'll have concessions available for purchase. At dusk we'll start the movie on a giant blow-up

Friday Night at the Movies in Downtown La Porte set for June 27
On Friday, June 27th, bring your blankets and chairs to Downtown La Porte to join us for Friday Night at the Movies. This is a free event open to all ages. The featured film is Monsters University and will be shown at dusk in the Herald Argus Parking Lot on the corner of State and Monroe Streets. Free popcorn will be provided by The La Porte Savings Bank with food, ice cream, and refreshments for purchase by B & J’s American Café and Temple News Agency. Bump n’ Jump Playhouses will have bounce houses for the kids starting at 6:00 p.m. until the time of the movie.

Relay Celebrates Survivorship, Cancer Survivors, Caregivers Invited to Dinner
This year’s Relay for Life of Duneland will take place from noon until 6 a.m. this Saturday and Sunday, June 28-29, 2014, at the Chesterton Middle School Track, 651 W. Morgan Ave., Chesterton. The Relay will feature a Survivors Lap at 4:30 p.m. This inspiring lap honors the courage of all who have defeated cancer. Cancer survivors (anyone who has ever been diagnosed with cancer) join together to walk the lap — unified in victory and in hope. It's an emotional example that Relay For Life is ensuring more lives are saved every year.

2014 Hobart Jayceefest
The Hobart Jaycees annual Jayceefest is undergoing a major facelift this year. The festival, which will be held June 26-29th will now be held at the Hobart Rugby Field, 112 E Old Ridge Rd. In addition to their traditional beer gardens and live music the Jaycees will be adding rides and games provided by Modern Midways as well as food, craft, and merchandise vendors on Saturday and Sunday

Visit the Alton Goin Museum Today!
If you haven't yet been to the Alton Goin Museum in Countryside Park in Portage this year, try to go out there today. The Alton Goin Museum is home to many interesting antiques and memorabilia. Most of the items were donated by people who've lived here or whose families were some of the early settlers or residents of the Portage area. Some of the items are general-interest items from days gone by.

Public Enemy Fest & 5K Run/Walk by Hometown Happenings
Hometown Happenings Public Enemy Fest & 5K Run & Walk will take place on Sunday, June 29 at 9 a.m., with registration beginning at 8 a.m. at the Lake County Fairgrounds. Music provided by DJ Donnie and LIVE entertainment. Supporting local police charities including the Lake County Animal Shelter, the Crown Point Police K-9 Unit & the NW Indiana Regional SWAT team

2014 Gary Clean Water Festival set for June 28th
The month of June gives Hoosiers a chance to learn about protecting and preserving our natural resources while celebrating the splendor of Lake Michigan. During Gary’s 10th Annual Clean Water Celebration Awareness Month, we encourage everyone to get outside and come join us “Celebrating Our Coast” on June 28th in the beautiful Marquette Park.

Test Drive…with Taste Festival
A fabulous food, beer and wine festival. The downtown's most acclaimed chef's gather in the stunning venue of Central Park Plaza to present the premier of all new signature dishes. Sample the downtown's finest Craft Beer and the Wine offerings. Celebrate Right with host Griegers Motors and nine of Valpo's downtown restaurants for an innovative festival of live music, food and hot cars. The festival will kick off at 12:00 with the premier of all new signature dishes, craft beers, wine tasting and automotive test drives

Taltree Arboretum & Gardens Picnic en Blanc
Picnic en Blanc, the first event of its kind in Northwest Indiana, is coming to Taltree Arboretum and Gardens on Saturday, June 28 from 4-9 p.m. An elegant outdoor affair of food, fanfare and entertainment - participants are asked to dress in all white. Tickets are $35 per person, with savings of $40 available when purchasing for a table of eight.

59th Annual Kiddie Parade in Michign City
You are cordially invited to participate in Michigan City’s 59th Annual Kiddie Parade on Saturday, June 28th. Join us as we celebrate “The Miracle on Mount Baldy” to celebrate Nathan Woessner and his family. Nathan was rescued after falling into a deep hole on Mount Baldy.
