10 Fun Things to Do this Weekend in Northwest Indiana: November 27-29, 2015

10FunThings 11-27-29It's the last weekend in November! Thanksgiving festivities abound and it has already snowed, making us all think of the next big holiday coming up. Speaking of holidays, there are a lot of holiday celebrations taking place this weekend as well as other great things. Do you have an event you'd like to share? A Christmas Carol
To wrap up the year, the Memorial Opera House offers a spectacular adaptation of Charles Dickens's most well known story. The story of Ebeneezer Scrooge and his ghostly encounters come to life in this lavish and thrilling musical. With an infuriated "Bah! Humbug!" Scrooge summates his feelings of Christmas tidings and charitable giving, but he's forced to face his selfish ways when three ghosts on Christmas Eve lead him through his Past, Present, & Future. Thanks to their guidance, Scrooge recognizes his faults and greets Christmas morning with a cheerful "Happy Christmas" before spending the day reconnecting and sharing love with those that mean the most to him.

Portage “Annual Christmas Craft Show”
The Portage Parks Department will host its Annual Christmas Craft Show on November 28th and 29th from 9:00am to 3:00pm at Woodland Park in the Sycamore and Oakwood Halls. Over 70 vendors will be present. Entry is free, but please bring a personal hygiene item for the Portage Food Pantry, such as tooth brushes, tooth paste, soaps, shampoos, etc.

City of Crown Point Winter Market and Santa Parade
The City of Crown Point will be hosting their annual Winter Market and Santa Parade on Saturday November 28, 2015. The parade begins at 10am at the Point Plaza on N. Main Street, and the Market also begins at 10am and runs until 4pm in the Maki Ballroom in the Courthouse. Get the holiday season started right with fun festivities and shopping with great local businesses on the Square. 

Photos with Santa on Santa’s Mountain
Photos with Santa on Santa’s Mountain are available between Thanksgiving and Christmas, every Saturday and Sunday between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the Indiana Welcome Center. Children have the opportunity to slide down a big red slide into a pillow of snow. Photos are $6 each. 

La Porte Santa Parade
Baby its cold outside, and Santa is getting ready to come to downtown La Porte! Applications are now available for the 2015 Santa Parade in downtown La Porte held on November 28 at 12:00pm. The parade is free to participate in and all groups are welcome to participate. The parade runs through downtown and ends at Santa’s Chalet in the historic Chamber Square, 803 Washington Street. 

Duneland Chamber: Hometown Holiday Celebration
Duneland’s Hometown Holiday Celebration will take place the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The festivities will extend through the month of December as Santa Claus visits Duneland children in his house in Thomas Centennial Park. Event celebrations are coordinated by the Duneland Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Town of Chesterton, the Chesterton Police, Parks and Street Departments, and the Chamber organizations and volunteers. 

Winter Grand Opening - Central Park Plaza
We are excited to help celebrate the Winter Grand Opening of Central Park Plaza and the NEW William E. Urschel Pavilion, Indiana Beverage Activities Center and Ice Skating Rink. 

Santa's March and Tree Lighting Ceremony
Parade with Santa through downtown Highland, ending at the Main Square Gazebo. Hot chocolate will be served. Join us for the lighting of Main Square Park for the holiday season. Afterward, Santa will have treat bags for good boys and girls. This is made possible with a generous donation from Culver’s. 

The Lounge Devils Comedy Show
The Lounge Devils Comedy/Variety Show is produced by comic hosting duo, Frank & Buddy Devil; The Lounge Devils. After more than a year of successful Chicago area shows, they are bringing Swank back to the Region. Friday & Saturday, November 27 & 28 in Portage at Clancy’s Public House 2542 Portage Mall (Central Av.) The show starts at 7 for cocktail party with complimentary hors d’ouevres. The Amazing Div Zealous will be performing close up magic during cocktail hour. Proudly sponsoring The Wounded Warrior Project- The Lounge Devils, will be donating directly to the W.W.P. Tickets are $20 at the door or $15 pre-show. 

Kenny Rogers Christmas & Hits
On Saturday November 28 at the Star Plaza Theatre in Merrillville the show Kenny Rogers Christmas & Hits will tbe taking center stage. Get into the holiday spirit with this great performance!
