The Michigan City Summer Festival is bringing four days of fun to the community with Labor Days Festival in Washington Park. Get ready for rides, music, food, arts, crafts and plenty of entertainment for the entire family over Labor Day Weekend.
Snow White Will Delight Children and Adults Alike
Chicago Street Theatre's upcoming production of Snow White is entertaining for the whole family. Children will delight in the classic Grimm Brothers' fairy tale, while adults will appreciate the hidden humor. Join us for an opening night gala on Friday, Aug. 31. Hosted at Cornucopia Coffee Company in Valparaiso, everyone in the audience is invited to join the cast and crew for complimentary appetizers and a cash drink bar. CST also is offering "Brunch With Snow White" at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, at Strongbow Inn.

Pig in the Park Fundraiser
Join the NewDay Foundation for the 6th Annual Pig in the Park Fundraiser on Saturday, September 1. Come out to the La Porte County Fairgrounds for a benefit that assists and gives hope to cancer patients in the community. The event features a rib and chicken cook-off, pancake breakfast, public tasting and judging, hog roast, and entertainment.

On Saturday, September 1st 2012, Robbinhurst Golf Club and Driving Range will play host to a special “Call Your Shot” match play event. This is a match play tournament open to all golfers. All play will be 18 holes.
Valparaiso Police F.O.P. Sponsoring Nelson Chicken Fundraiser
The Valparaiso Police Department’s F.O.P. Lodge 76 will be hosting a Nelson Chicken Fundraiser on Friday August 31st from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Chicken will be available in the K-Mart parking lot from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All money raised benefits many local organizations and events.
August Jewelry Making Class
Mara Wible, formerly of MegaBeads will lead jewelry making classes Fridays in August. The class on August 31st will feature the Byzantine Bracelet. A Byzantine chain is a 4 in 1 chain meaning that each chain passes through four others. This chain is supple and flexible draping gracefully like rope.

The Westchester Public Library invites children to attend Market Storytime, a new event to be held in Thomas Centennial Park during Chesterton’s European Market this Saturday, September 1. Beginning at 10:45am, children and their families should watch and listen for the Library’s Special Messenger, who will be announcing the beginning of Storytime as he travels the Market.
Mystery Dinner Held in the Historic Café L'Amour
An interactive, Mystery Dinner Theatre presentation, "The Last Will and Testament of a Millionaire" will be presented at the Cafe L'Amour, 701 Lincolnway in La Porte, on August 31. This event features a fine dinner buffet by Spire Catering, as well as performances by professional actors of the Etropal Theatre and a cash bar.
Valparaiso Friends of Folds of Honor Patriot Golf Day
Local Patriot Golf Day activities for 2012 have been expanded to include an evening of patriotic music performed by the nationally renowned Joliet Illinois American Legion Band Saturday, September 1st. This tribute concert will be held at the Porter Health Amphitheater at Central Park Plaza. This year’s Patriot Golf Day event will be held at The Course at Aberdeen on Sunday, September 2, 2012, with tee times available at both 7 AM and 12 PM. Post golf activities for friends and families as well as golfers on September 2nd include a picnic dinner.
