La Porte Service League Presents “Little Red Riding Hood and the Magic Dragon”
La Porte Service League will present a new twist on what happens when a favorite children’s fairy tale ends with, “Little Red Riding Hood and the Magic Dragon.”
Opening Reception: Abstruse Daydreaming & Placebo
February 5 from 5-8 PM (CST) Lubeznik Center for the Arts will host the opening reception for Meredith Setser and Jay Zerbe: Abstruse Daydreaming (Hyndman Gallery) and Jonah Ortiz: Placebo (Brincka/Cross and Susan Block Galleries). Meet the artists and enjoy light bites catered by Shoreline Brewery. Admission is free and there will be a cash bar. Exhibitions are open during regular gallery hours on February 6 through April 9. LCA resumes regular gallery hours starting February 6.

Chicago Street Theatre Presents "The Liuetenant of Inishmore"
After an impressive start to its 61st season,Valpo's Chicago Street Theatre is showing no signs of slowing down or pulling any punches with their upcoming production of Martin McDonagh's The Lieutenant of Insishmore. This dark comedy from the writer and director of In Bruges and Seven Psychopaths runs January 29 through February 13 at the theatre located at 154 W Chicago Street in Valparaiso.

We understand that this tragedy has hit home to the NW Indiana running community. We thought coming together as a group might help us cope with the loss of our fellow runner.

Portage High School Outstanding Young Man
Don't miss the Portage High School Outstanding Young Man Competition, a scholarship program for the PHS senior guys. The night will be filled with the great talents of fine young men as they dance, sing, and show off other skills as they vie for the prize. Last year's winner, Nick Bell will be there to give the award to the 2016 PHS Outstanding Young Man.
February Stargazing Program
Join members from various local astronomical societies, including the Chicago Astronomical Society, with their telescopes to get a closer look at the night skies over Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. This month's program takes place on Saturday, February 6 at the national lakeshore's Kemil Beach parking lot at 5:30 pm. In celebration of the National Park Service Centennial and the fiftieth birthday of Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, a special stargazing program is being offered on the first Saturday of the month through November of 2016.
Inspiring the Future - NASA Exhibit
The interactive exhibit informs visitors about NASA's missions - past, present and future. The exhibits include artifacts, models and interactive kiosks with storyboards and pictures of NASA's historic missions. Displays also tell the benefits of air travel and how NASA is making it safer; as well as a variety of successful NASA technologies that have been commercialized.
