Savor the South Shore
Get in on the most delicious event in the region! The 2nd annual “Savor the South Shore” promotion is going on from February 22 to March 6, 2016, select region restaurants will be offering specially priced lunch and dinner menus for their guests’ dining pleasure. That’s 14 days of food fun, two weeks of dining delights, and hours and hours of extra excellent eating.
Portage YMCA Cocoa & Canvas
Children will be supplied with paint, one canvas, hot cocoa, and cookies. Come to class dressed to get messy! Two classes will be held one Friday of each month. Preschoolers can participate with help from a parent. Must be registered to attend, register at the Welcome Center of the Portage Township YMCA.
Leap Into the Arts 2016
On Friday, February 26, South Shore Dance Alliance and Northwest Indiana Symphony Youth Orchestra are joining together in a fundraising gala, “Leap into the Arts,” now in its ninth year. If you’ve never attended, please be advised—Leap is a fun and festive evening for a great cause! In addition to performances by these groups, this exceptional evening includes a complimentary cocktail hour, dinner, raffle, and more than 12 tables of fantastic silent auction items.

On Feb 27th 8-10am at the Bonnier Senior Center, come take part in the Portage Exchange Pancake Breakfast. All proceeds go to our children Christmas Shopping Tour at Portage Walmart.
Birding in Winter
Come join Taltree’s naturalist team this winter! Students will learn about birds that are active in winter, how to plan hiking to see migrating birds in early spring, and get hands on experience on identification of birds.

Annual Maple Sugar Time at Friendship Gardens
On Sunday, February 28th from noon to 3pm, Friendship Botanic Gardens will host a free afternoon of winter wilderness discovery at the annual Maple Sugar Time Event. Visitors can take a self-guided nature walk through old-growth woodland trails before stopping by the maple sugaring station to learn how the early inhabitants of North America produced maple syrup.
