Super Smoke Social: The Must Attend Evening of the Year
Indiana's premier cigar and social event will take place March 14, 2013! The Super Smoke Social, benefiting the United Way of La Porte County, kicks off at 6:00 pm. The evening features Gourmet Multi-Course Steak Dinner, Open Bar with Premium Wine and Liquor, 4 Premium Cigars from Ashton's Family of Brands, Live and Silent Auction, and more!

Celebrate the luck of the Irish with Catch 22 this St. Patrick's Day! An Irish menu will be featured all weekend long, along with specials on Guinness, green Miller Lite, and Irish Whiskey. There will be a bag piper throughout the evening and a Guinness rep will be on hand Friday with giveaways and t-shirts!

On Sunday, March 17, at 2 p.m., at Elston Performing Arts Center in Michigan City, IU Health LaPorte Hospital will present a Classic Concert with the The LaPorte County Symphony Orchestra and Conductor Philip Bauman welcoming Belen. The concert will start with "Overture of the Season," commissioned by the family of Garry and JoFran Bendix specifically for the 40th anniversary of the LCSO.
Celebrate St. Patty's with The Silver Spoon
Become one with the Irish at The Silver Spoon this St. Patrick's Day! On March 16th and 17th, 7:00 pm, come out to the restaurant for an Irish good time. There will even be bag pipes! Drink specials that night include $3 Jameson shots and $3 green beers.
The Hunt Is On
Grab your Easter baskets and join us on the “Great Easter Egg” hunt! Portage 1st United Methodist will be having an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 16th at 4:30 PM. There will be egg hunts for children 0 – 12. Egg hunts will be divided into four age groups: 0-3, 4-5, 6-8 and 9-12 year olds. Following the Easter Egg Hunt, everyone is invited to come over to the church for dinner.

The Purdue University North Central American Sign Language Club will host an ASL Coffeehouse on Friday, March 15, from 6 to 9 p.m. At 7 p.m. the guest presenter will be Jan Pool addressing the topic of Deaf education. Pool is a retired education form Bailey Elem School in Chesterton. Her focus and experience is on the early years of a deaf or hard of hearing child's education, getting children exposed to and fluent in language so that then they can focus on academics.
Runnin' with the Irish 5k & Kids Fun Run
Spring is coming and the weather is getting warmer. We know that you're all ready to get outside and stretch those legs! Come run with the Irish on Saturday, March 16, at the Indiana Dunes State Park.

The Chesterton Art Center is happy to host artwork from the Chesterton Montessori School Art program from March 11 to the end of the month. The Opening Reception will be held Saturday, March 16 from 2-4. The children's artwork will include 2-dimensional pieces in paint, ink, papers and pencils, as well as sculptural pieces exploring textiles, clay and paper.
Join Us for Our 2013 Golf Season Kick-off Open House
The golf courses of the Valparaiso Parks Department will host two Open Houses for your convenience. Stop by to get your Season Pass or free Resident Card. There will be information on upcoming leagues, outings and what's new at the courses. If weather permits, we will have a winner takes all putting contest. There will be complementary food and beverages. Rich will be making his spicy-hot chili and soup so don't miss it.
Take the Date Night Challenge
Friday, March 15th is “Date Night,” and we at Portage 1st United Methodist Church want you and your spouse or significant other to join other couples for a night of food, fun, music, laughter and tips to help strengthen your relationship and marriage. At 6:30 we will be entertained with music, comedy and hear about how to strengthen our marriages and relationships.
