St. Sava Serb Fest 2016 Experience the music and dance of Serbian Culture at "Serb Fest 2016" taking place August 5, 6, & 7 at St. Sava in Merrillville, Indiana. Everyone can dance the kolo, and even if it's your first time you'll find friendly people to help show you the steps! Join us Friday and Saturday from Noon to Midnight, Sunday Noon to 10 p.m. for one of Northwest Indiana's premiere cultural festivals. There's also weekly folklore dance sessions taking place every Monday evening at 7 p.m. throughout most of the year at St. Sava where you can learn the kolo and get a great workout! Community members are welcome!
Valparaiso Noon Kiwanis Corn Roast & Brats All the corn you can eat, with a choice between a brat or hot dog, plus chips, cookie, and a soft drink or water. Additional brats/hot dogs and Dilly ice cream bars will be available for $2.00. An adult beer wagon will be on site. $10 in advance (purchase from a Noon Kiwanis member) or $12 at the door. Kids 6 and under are free.
Soul Children of Chicago in Downtown Michigan City Mayor Ron Meer is proud to announce that after much work and effort, the Mayor’s office in conjunction with the Michigan City Commission on the Social Status of African American Males, the Michigan City Public Art Committee and the LaPorte County Commissioners, the City of Michigan will host a special event featuring the Soul Children of Chicago gospel choir to perform in downtown Michigan City on Friday, August 5th at 6:00 p.m.

South Shore Summer Music Festival Please join us for a series of free outdoor concerts in towns across the Region. The summer program features a mix of patriotic songs, light classical pieces, and movie and Broadway tunes as well as special Indiana themed music and composers to celebrate the state's bicentennial. The August 5th concert will take place at the Wolf Lake Pavilion in Hammond at 7:30pm and August 6th's concert will take place at Central Park in Griffith.
11th Annual Car Show at First United Methodist Church of Portage On August 6th 2016 there will be an car show at Portage 1st United Methodist Church located at 2637 McCool Road in Portage. Registration starts at 9 am until 11am. Trophies awarded at 4 Pm. $15 per vehicle, door prizes, food and fun for the family. Proceeds will benefit Royal Family Kids Camp. Goodie bags to the first 25 vehicles.
Stand-Up Comic Bob Saget at Blue Chip Saget, best known for his starring roles in the network TV shows Full House and America’s Funniest Home Videos, has also been a stand-up comedian for more than 30 years. From his HBO specials, “That Ain’t Right,” to cameo appearances on “Entourage” and “The Aristocrats,” Saget has embraced his dark side. His 2013 stand-up special “That’s What I’m Talking About,” was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album.

NIETF Theatrepalooza The region will shine with the glow of the spotlight as you sit back, laugh, and awe at the amazing talents of local actors. Theatre companies from across NWI will present short shows or excerpts of longer ones in a showcase format. In the lobby, you’ll find booths from each of the theatres with information on their upcoming shows, classes, auditions, and volunteer opportunities. Audience members will have a chance to win some great door prizes as well!
