It seems that some of the pets adopted from the Michiana Humane Society answer to a higher calling in life. So it is with Baggins.
He and his siblings were found in a box sealed up with duct tape and left in a ditch. They were brought to MHS and put up for adoption. Cathy Albrecht met him and knew he had the instinct to help people. You can read more of their story in this 2006 article from the South Bend Tribune.
Nine years later, Cathy now sits on the Board of Directors and volunteers on behalf of the shelter visiting schools and other organizations with her therapy team. And yes, Mr. Baggins is still on the team, helping people get through trying times.
