A call for Southern Shore Art Association members and regional guest artists has gone out for the third annual “female as subject” art exhibition to be held in March at the SSAA Michigan City Gallery on Franklin Street. The first female-themed exhibition in 2013 was cited by the Chicago Tribune as their “pick of the week.” The show will be chaired by Susan Block.
The 2015 exhibition titled “HERSELF: The Female in Image and Form,” celebrates the gender in her infinite variety, literal, whimsical, abstract, playful, exotic or erotic. Paintings, photography and sculpture and other media will be on exhibit in the month beginning with the opening reception on First Friday, March 6, 5-8 pm (CST)
Intake for submissions will be on Monday, March 2 from 3:30-5:30pm (CST). Guest artists are encouraged to take advantage of special savings for membership in SSAA. Guidelines for submission and other information is available by contacting co-chair Staara at Staara@Staara.com, leaving a message at the Gallery phone number 219-879-4980 or through the SSAA website www.southernshoreartassociation.com
