On Saturday December 6th Santa himself has agreed to visit the La Porte County Historical Society Museum! He is taking time out of his busy schedule to talk to children from 10AM until 2PM on that day. He’ll be sitting in his big red chair and checking the lists brought to him. Bring along your camera for some good photo opportunities.
Cookies and punch will be served in the meeting room.
Santa will be sitting near this year’s Holiday Theme, “Santa’s Special Trees.” An entire grove of trees devoted to the history of La Porte County will be on display for the Holiday Season. Some collections on the trees include: local campaign buttons, antique hair combs, industrial advertising, the list goes on.
A popular La Porte Christmas tradition is always the Giese Church, on the lower level of the museum. Generations have been viewing the miniature church since 1947. It still delights all who see the little doll choir procession, the lights inside the church, and the little minister.
“Santa’s Special Trees” and the Giese Church can be viewed from the first of December until the middle of January, 2015. The La Porte County Historical Society Museum is located at 2405 Indiana Ave. in La Porte and is accessible to those with disabilities.
