The Michigan City Police Department will be participating in Operation pullover Click it or Ticket Blitz 79 running from Friday, May 9, 2014 through Sunday June 1, 2014. This enforcement blitz includes Memorial Day weekend where the Michigan City Police Department will have extra patrols out. Click it or Ticket.
This OPO grant funds the overtime to put more officers on the streets to improve the quality of life of the Michigan City Citizens. During the holiday weekend Drivers are asked to be responsible, don’t drink and drive, have a designated driver or seek alternate transportation.
In April officers of the Michigan City Police Department worked OPO patrols stopping 141 cars. Officers wrote 120 citations; 97 seat belt violations, 2 suspended drivers with a prior conviction (A-Mis), 3 other suspended drivers infraction), 4 other license violations, 1 Automatic/stop sign violation, 1 other violation and 12 citations for speeding. Officers also wrote 21 warning tickets.
3 arrest were made; 1 for a check deception warrant and 2 suspended drivers.
