Over the course of the third nine weeks, Boston Middle School teacher, Diane Neff is having her eighth class Reading classes read about and discuss the barriers that exist in the world that have the power to limit opportunities for people. They focused on the topic of humanity and how we should be mindful of our actions towards others in an effort to break through those existing barriers of race, religion, education, and poverty. To conclude the unit, students watched a Kid President video and responded with how they believe they can use their strengths and talents to make the world a better place. Their responses are on display on the bulletin board outside Miss Neff’s classroom. “It's pretty neat to see what the kids think can make a difference in the world!” says Miss Neff.
